$250 for a pretty damn good condition 90-92 piece...
Gone would be the 'flame' badge, here would be the Mazda word sticker...
Gone would be my extreme fading and dents...
Gone would be my $250...
I am in a state of deep contemplation.
Here's a pic of the candidate:
These are hard af to locate

Stick the old flame badge on the new bumper and rob a few people. Problems solved.

Badge transfer might be on the table... I'll have to research that art

You want to keep your flame emblem, and put it on the new bumper? No problem.
1. Scrape the emblem off of your old bumper. Normally, it might take a heat gun & a Lil' Chizler to remove it without damaging the paint underneath, but that's not a concern with the old bumper. Let it warm up in the sun for a bit or borrow the ol' lady's hair dryer, and get under that sucker with an old plastic gift card. Don't pry up, it's easy to bend and then it's ruined. Another trick I haven't tried is using dental floss. Either way, just keep working away at the adhesive black foam rubber that's holding it on. Once you've got at least half of it detached, you can start to gently pry it up.
2. Clean off all the old adhesive foam rubber. Rubbing alcohol, paint thinner, brakeleen, etc. will work here, as will Goo Gone .
3. Get some new foam rubber double sided tape. 3M makes the best tape, find it at the bigger parts stores or body shop supply stores. Or, Scotch brand tape is probably the same stuff, since Scotch is a 3M brand.
4. The tapes' much narrower than the badge, so you'll need to lay 4 or 5 strips on it. Keep each strip one against another without significant gaps.
5. Trim the excess tape from around & inside the emblem with an X-Acto knife.
You want to achieve something like this:
NOT like this. There's way too little tape:

Nice guide. Could end up helping me. I think the hardest part about transferring the badge would be placing it on the new bumper, lol. Things like that make me super nervous, you can never assure perfection..

Oh, I forgot to mention to clean the new bumper with some rubbing alcohol.
As for placing it, measure the old one's distance from the hood edge, and from the turn signal housings to the sides of the emblem. Measure the center point between the turn signals. Mark those distances on the new bumper with a Sharpie after you've cleaned it with the rubbing alcohol. The center point should help you to line up the bottom of the "flame" and ensure that it's not tilted to one side or the other. When you're done, a quick swipe with the alcohol will remove the Sharpie.
